AUGUST MOON

So early we smell the cool autumn air
Pretty orange, red and gold leaves float over green grass.
The setting sun casts deep shadows against the trees
Soon the hot humid summer will pass.

The fireflies and bats are gone now
Summer flowers are fading away.
Cocoons being built in trees
Early sunsets shorten the day.

Fields of golden corn and hay to reap
Children heading back to school
Football, soccer, and hockey
Fun times and golden rule.

Cool breezes sending quiet whispers
That soon winter will be here.
But true deep friendships
We can count on to always be near.

Shorter days, longer nights
A beautiful orange August moon
These signs of fall came much earlier
Telling us winter will be coming soon.

Yes the early signs of fall
Bring a winter chill.
But the warmth of loved ones
Remains with us still.

This was an unusual August 2013,
with much cooler temperatures,
not only here in Pennsylvania, but
in many states across the USA.
The weather forecasters saying it feels like fall.
Do you wonder what will September bring?

August 2015: On August 29th., the world was
able to observe a spectacular celestial phenomenon
the supermoon, also known as the Sturgeon Moon.
It is the first of three consecutive
“supermoons” occurring this year.

Here in Pennsylvania the weather has been
a mix of hot ninety degree days
and some cooler sixty/seventy temperatures.
Some nights were in fifties and one night
in the forties for some areas including our area.
Our weather forecasters do predict a very
"cold" winter.
Hang in there folks.
